Hi Tobi,
I do have a lot to say about the much more effect of Last Adam - it's part of a book I've been working on. If I can find the time in the next few weeks, I'll put some thoughts together in a post. But here's a taste. Those in the universalist camp along with those who are not but who claim all are raised with Christ rely on the following argument: Adam killed everyone even though not all believe in Him, similarly, Jesus saved or raised (or will save or will raise) everyone even though not believe in Him - otherwise Adam did a greater work. I have about 18 problems with this but my biggest problem is with the logic: If Adam killed everyone but Jesus saved everyone, then Jesus didn't do a greater work - He only did a comparable or equal work. If every person who is lost is then rescued, the remedy exactly matches the fall. This is not the "how much more" of which Paul spoke.

Both books are terrific! In fact, I have read most of John Crowder's books and have been deeply blessed by all of them. I also just recently attended his conference in Charlotte and loved every second of it! I believe he and his group are on the forefront of bringing the church back to the gospel message. Of course, this website is doing a great job as well;) Rest in the GLORY!!!

Thanx for the review

Doesn’t John look like he has an invisible doobie in his hand in the cartoon-I’m not trying to be negative but I don’t understand this. What's a good way to re-evaluate someone's previous actions like making a video where you lay on the grave of a John Alexander Dowie to seek the anointing and then come to understand your Union with Christ? It makes me really gun-shy to get hooked into someone's thinking if you get a mix of seeking an anointing from a dead saint and NT believing-I just don't know how much of that residual thinking is locked up in this book

I am not trying to be sarcastic or anything but trying to understand this-I appreciate Ben Dunn's previous clarification about stuff

Please, write more about it!
This can be confusing - since the argument that Jesus as the last Adam had a "much more" influence on humanity may lead to the conclusion.
People I have discussed with do not claim that everyone is saved, but that everyone is risen and in Christ as a new creation - faith in Christ makes them aware of this reality.
I can go with that in parts, cause faith in Christ ist still the key to participate (has nothing to do with universalism).
Maybe you can bring some clarity on this. Thanks!

I have been making a list of scriptures to back up this point you are making, Paul.

John 1:11-13 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. [12] But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, [13] who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Act 16:30-31 NASB - "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 5:16-17 NASB - The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who RECEIVE the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Mark 10:25-26 NASB - "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." They were even more astonished and said to Him, " Then who can be saved?"

Mark 16:16 NASB - "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Act 2:47 NASB - And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Act 16:31 NASB - They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 10:1 NASB - Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

Rom 10:9 NASB - that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

1Cr 10:33 NASB - just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may be saved.

1Th 2:15-16 NASB They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men, hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the utmost.

1Ti 2:3-4 NASB - This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2Th 2:10 NASB - those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

Grace is the banquet table. Faith is the Invitation to feast at it. Both are from God. Whether you eat or not is your choice. But, just because you have an invitation does not mean you have already eaten. You need to open your mouth and say, 'aaaahhhh'!!! Then, you will be filled. Not before :-)

Hi everyone and particularly Patrick,

I’ve had some fresh thoughts on this post which I want to share with you here. I wrote the post above to convince Christians that since we died on the cross, it is pointless trying to kill the old man. He’s gone! Paul says this over and over in his letters. “You died,” “We died,” “I was crucified with Christ.” This is a liberating truth and something the church really needs to get a hold of.

But in the comments that followed I got distracted from my purpose and wrote: “Jesus died for all people, therefore all people died.” That was an off-the-cuff remark that I should like to take back. I was not aware at the time that there are those within the grace movement who say that “all humanity are saved, all died and all are raised with Christ.” I was not aware that by saying “all died,” I was associating myself with this line of thinking.

So, to clarify…

Paul is making two profound points in 2 Cor 5:14-15. (1) Jesus died as humanity’s representative. This is not an isolated man dying on a cross. Three times in 2 verses, Paul says: “One died for all… He died for all…. Him who died for them.” The overwhelming punch is that Christ died for us, on behalf of us.

(2) By saying “all died,” Paul is saying that the benefits of His death are freely available to all, from righteous Jew to stinkin’ Gentile. It makes no difference who you are. If you consider Jesus as your representative (lit. your high priest), then His death was for your benefit. If you were baptized into him, then you were baptized into his death for His ministry includes His death. So count yourself as dead to sin and the law.

Why do I think it is dangerous to conclude that all literally died? Because Paul leans in another direction. “If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation.” For those who aren’t in Christ (those who have not identified with Him and His death) the old has not gone. They are not new. They have not crossed over death to life because they do not believe.

The cross is the means of liberating the entire human race. It is the means for getting us out of Adam and into Christ. But the benefits of the cross are only relevant to those who receive them by faith.

If there’s any interest in this, I might write a longer post on all this. But my point is the same as Paul’s: If you have “received the abundant provision of grace” (Rom 5:17), and have been “baptized into his death” (Rom 6:2), then reckon yourself “dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Rom 6:11).

I too just started listening to Andrew and bought several of his books. I thank God that he allows you to download his lessons free. What a life saver. I told the Lord today that I wanted to partner with him and I said hallelujah so any times after that. That is the Lords way of letting me know that he approves. I have no doubt that, that is what he wants me to do. He is a dynamic teacher. God Bless him because he has certainly blessed me to find him.

I also just started listening to Joseph Prince. The same thing happened to me when I asked about him also. Praise God. I have been serving the Lord for 36 years. I will be 72, 3/7/40 and still learning so much more. You all have a wonderful Blessed Day. I am glad I found you. Sister Doris J. Gibson

Excellent blog! A friend of mine had a question about where Jesus was for the three days. If he entrusted his Spirit into his Father's hands, did that mean he was in Heaven or just that he was in the Father's care? Did he preach to those in Sheol? My only response was to the reason for three days - that Jesus could have resurrected immediately, but stayed dead for three days to prove our Adamic life was dead-dead (3 days has always been a validation for being truly dead). Also, fulfills sign of Jonah and Hosea 6:1-2. Any insight on this?

Paul, one week new to your site and loving it. Several teachers and preachers on TV, radio and print say that when we confess our sins as Christians we are to ask forgiveness from God. Does this fall into the same issue as spoken in the above post? I believe in confessing and agreeing with God about my sinfulness and it always sets me free but if I was to ask forgiveness everytime wouldn't I be insulting the Spirit of Grace? God Bless

“a person is justified by works and not faith alone” James. Unlike Martin Luther you are dancing around the fact that if it is works of Abraham, Rahab or The Comandments it is all works. James used the word "Justified". That is one word we all can agree means to gain enternal life. The wonderful simplicity of the Gospel is it is active in to WHOM EVER BELIEVES. When ever we as man front load or back load the Gospel...as your post above seems to suggest..."the power of the Gospel is made void".Joseph Prince. Law is anything added to our belief in Jesus's completed work on the cross for our sins. As in another post on this site I with Luther can not except anything added to the Gospel. "Jesus+nothing =everything". Tullian T. I have resolved to let this issue be a mystery until the Holy Spirit illuminates otherwise to me. Brother Ponder, a loving Spirit comes out through your written words. God Bless

Hi I do agree with the comment make by Shakster. Yes God's Grace is above all! God's Grace covers all but does not cover up! Let me quote one real incident. My husband and his adulterer is now attending NCC. We are still married and he committed adultery without guilt and quoted God's Grace is above all! does that mean that God understand he needs a new love? and God's Grace will cover all these? then why did the bible in Matthew talk about sin in adultery? Why Revelation talk about Judgement Day? for the prebelievers? read again Word of God meant also the believers who sin..

God's Grace give us the empowerment not to sin but many were misled into giving excuses for their sin and have no guilt over their sin. Many only want to hear what they want to hear that is ok God will understand I need this....I suggest that we should also get back to the basic which is the word of God. Preacher might be preaching unbalance sermon..

May the Spirit of God bring convictions in all areas of every believers lives. When there is no convictions that is the danger we are into..We dont just hear about Heaven but there is also Judgement Day which is many will be sent to Hell! in the Bible it does not always talk about Helleaven but balance with Hell..so preach a balance sermon if not many will misinterpret and take God's Grace for granted which lead to perverted Grace. Why always quote "other churches...." it sounds like always pointing at others instead of "I" for preaching wrong messages..

It's all a question of identity. I don't define my identity by what I do but by my parentage. My heavenly Father is not a sinner and He says I am perfect forever (Heb 10:14). I'm not about to call Him a liar so if my daily experience doesn't line up with what He says is true, I'm going to have to choose to trust Him. There are only two kinds of people identified in the NT; saints and sinners, the righteous and the unrighteous, the sheep and the goats, the wheat and the tares. It is an oxymoron to say that you are a sinner saved by grace. It's like saying "I am a drowning man who has been rescued." Well, if you've been saved, you're no longer drowning are you? Stop talking and acting like a drowning man. Start talking and acting like a rescued man. It is against the nature of a rescued man to act as though he were drowning. If he ran down the street waving his arms and screaming "I'm drowning," it would be very odd. Similarly, it against the new nature of a saint to act like a sinner.

Please don't give up on James. I know many put him in the too-hard basket which is why I have written ten posts on the man and his letter - actually he wrote two letters.
