GITW Competition

Update: This competition is now closed. Prizes will be going to the winner Jennie (30 books!) and Jeshurun5 (20 books!). Thanks to everyone who entered. I am inspired by your generosity and your desire to share The Gospel in Ten Words. Thank you!

Before the official release of my book, The Gospel in Ten Words, I gave away 50 free copies to E2R readers just like you. Then I gave away 50 more. Then, because I was having so much fun, I gave away 50 more. I got such a thrill from hearing back from delighted recipients.

Giving is fun!

I wish I could give away every single copy of the book but there’s this lady down at the grocery store who insists I pay for food with money. Apparently my million-dollar smile isn’t good enough. So my giving has been curtailed by the harsh realities of life.

But that shouldn’t stop you from giving. If you are in a position to give away copies of the book, I want to encourage you to go for it. I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to get emails like this: “Thank you for writing such a good book. I’ve just bought copies for my friends and family.”

Yes! That’s the thing with the good news – it wants to be shared. And there are hungry and hurting people out there who need us to share it.

You certainly don’t need my book to tell someone the good news and there are plenty of free resources here on E2R to equip you for that great commission. But if you do want to purchase copies of The Gospel in Ten Words for friends, family, and entire congregations, then I say “go for it!”

And in the spirit of giving to the givers, we have decided to run a friendly competition.

If you have been generous with The Gospel in Ten Words, use the comment box below to let us know how many copies you have given or plan to give away. At the end of this month (October) the person who has given away the most copies will receive the following bundle of prizes:

–    a signed copy of The Gospel in Ten Words with a special message of thanks mailed anywhere in the world
–    a limited edition Escape to Reality pen (there are only three left!)
–    lunch at our place (if you can make it to Auckland)
–    a guaranteed pre-advance copy of my next book (whenever that gets written)

Sound good? Are you inspired to give?

Okay, some ground rules.

(1)    This applies to the paperback version of the book only. So no burning your Kindle copy onto disks.
(2)    You don’t need to show us your Amazon proof of purchase unless you win (so keep that email)
(3)    We’re counting the books you give away, not books bought for personal use or re-sale

Christmas is only sixty-odd shopping days away. So beat the rush, place your Christmas orders now, and you could win a nifty pile of prizes.

And I have to tell you, nobody does lunch like Camilla!

UPDATE (24 Oct, 2012): Bulk discounts are now available here.

Lunch sounds cool Paul, but I live in Durban South Africa, and my last two trips to see my Pastor and mentor Karel Potgieter [ now retired and living in Sydney] nearly killed me. It takes weeks to get over the jet lag…. Sigh. The book is great and I have recommended it to many – buy from AMAZON.COM

God bless and keep up the good work, it is really awesome. Ps 5:12, Kind Regards, KEITH BLOND

  5. Well I wasn’t going to enter, but then “lunch at our place” sounded too good a possibility to resist (and who knows we are only a couple of hours away by plane)! I bought 9 copies to give away. In fact my wife and I are writing some letters to put in parcels as I type 🙂

    • Hi Adam, nine copies! You may have just locked up the competition right there! It’s like Australia has just put a thousand runs on the board in the first innings. I wonder whether anyone will be able to top that.

  6. Hi Paul, I purchased 5 copies which I’ve given away to friends. Great news to hear how many copies are shifting off the shelves of Amazon and they are struggling to keep up with the demand.
Dare I use the word and say you and Camilla must be so proud to see what God is doing through you.
    Thanks again. Peter.

    • Hi Peter, that is outstanding generosity. I hope your friends are truly blessed. Proud is probably not as good a word as stunned. Camilla and I went out for dinner last night and we were discussing how we could not have imagined two weeks ago that we would soon be deep in discussions with foreign translators and offshore licensees in several countries. God has plans for the message in this book that go beyond our wildest imaginations (Eph 3:20). Let me take this opportunity to publicly thank people like you who encouraged me to write a book when I could see no reason. I told you, “Why would people pay for material they could get here for free?” Well I have learned a thing or two! Some people prefer books.

  7. Lunch at your place sounds like a good enough reason to do this! Unfortunately, don’t think I’ll make it for Christmas but congratulations in advanced to those who win! (especially the person who gets the lunch!)

  8. Hi Paul, Will you be publishing this in NZ? I would like to order several but the postage in NZD is $196.77. If it is going to be published here, I will wait to save the postage.

  9. Ok, I’m in the competition with 20 books. Thanks so much for writing such a life-giving book!

  10. For those of you wondering how jeshurun5 could afford 20 books from Amazon, I would like to let you know that we are now on the verge of being able to offer bulk discounts. And they don’t come via Amazon. We are still ironing out the kinks and plan to make an announcement in a few days time. Jeshurun5 happened to contact me at just the right time and so became a guinea pig for testing this new service. Stay tuned!

  11. Guys, as promised, bulk discounts of The Gospel in Ten Words are now available. Full details here.

  12. yay! guess i need to gather my numbers together! thanks so much!
