How to Recognize the Hypergrace Gospel
What is the hypergrace message?
The hyper-grace gospel declares that God’s love for you is unconditional and his grace is superabounding. It’s the how much mores that Jesus spoke of and the grace upon grace that John wrote of.
The hypergrace gospel is easy to recognize for it is nothing more than boasting about Jesus—who he is and what he has done and what you can now do because of what he has done.
If the message you’re hearing causes you to fix your eyes on Jesus, and moves you to shout for joy and give thanksgiving and praise for all he has done, chances are you’re hearing the hyper-grace gospel.
While a mixed-grace gospel is recognized by the presence of carrots and sticks, the hyper-grace gospel is marked by invitations. Here’s one:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matt. 11:28)
Here’s another:
I want to come in and be with you. (Rev. 3:20)
A mixed-grace gospel drives people with the law, but the hyper-grace gospel draws them with love. This is how Martin Luther distinguished the two messages:
A lawdriver insists with threats and penalties; a preacher of grace lures and incites with divine goodness and compassion shown to us; for He wants no unwilling works and reluctant services, He wants joyful and delightful services of God.
In a quest for holiness a mixed-grace preacher may preach a little law, a little self-help, or a little pop psychology, but it’s all just a flesh trip. In contrast, a hyper-grace preacher preaches Christ alone.
Whatever your need, whether it’s salvation or sanctification, your supply is found in the One who promises to meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Php. 4:19).
It is essential that you learn how to distinguish the hyper-grace gospel from the many mixed-grace messages that may distract you from it. To help you do this, I have prepared a table showing 20 differences between the mixed- and hyper-grace gospels that you can print out and keep in your Bible.
The hyper-grace gospel is simple. You don’t need to read Hebrew or Greek to get it. Nor do you need to go to seminary or Bible school. To paraphrase Joseph Prince, the hyper-grace gospel is so simple it takes theologians to complicate it.
Is the hypergrace gospel Biblical? Well, it’s in the Bible, so it must be.
The hyper-grace gospel is the revelation of Jesus. It is the announcement that He is the beginning and the end, the first word and the last. It is the confident assurance that He who has begun a good work in you will carry it on unto completion. It is the happy revelation that in Christ, your searching is over and you have found your eternal resting place. In Him, you are already home.
Jesus is the hyper-grace gospel!

A Hyper-Grace believer becomes an offence to the Mixed grace believer. Just as Jesus was an offence to the religious leaders of his day.

the profound difference between these two is whether or not a preacher is resting in the truth of the finished work of Christ. i think that mixed-grace preachers somehow feel it is their responsibility for the good behavior of their flocks, instead of trusting the Holy Spirit to work in them…
Unfortunately what they preach causes the flock to grieve the Holy Spirit,

Finding Jesus to be our all – happy revelation indeed! That’s hyper grace. Hyper grace supremely glorifies God more than anything else among the sons of men in this life. If the chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever then man does not fulfill his chief end until he accepts and embraces hyper grace.
“To the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. …. with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:6, 12, 14 NASB)
Hyper-grace given by a hyper-God because He is hyper-love.
And the knowledge of the Lord shall fill the earth.
Amen! John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. We truly know (perceive) the Lord thru his own knowledge (perception) of himself. It amazes me how our Father has given us our Lord Jesus Christ and his Spirit of Truth; yet we often tend to turn to man, even our own thoughts, to find and perceive the knowing of our God. Jesus said, “if you have seen me – you have seen the Father”, “if you have heard me – you have heard the Father!” Our loving Father and Lord Jesus Christ will graciously tell us all about himself from his own point of view! As Paul has said, “the hyper-grace gospel is the revelation of Jesus!” Amen, thank you Lord Jesus!
Wow! I love the table. I will be sharing this with folks. The Good News is and always will be always just that, “Good News!” I noticed on the Hyper Grace side of the chart, everything has already been “Finished”, and the Lord Jesus is inviting us to be “Finished/Complete” IN HIM!

Thanks Paul, for articulating so well the message of the Gospel of Grace. Your chart of 20 differences has been extremely helpful to me and for those I have shared it with. It has enabled them to more clearly see the differences and identify the mixed grace gospel that is so common. I have a suggestion for the section of the chart Be Holy Because. In the mixed grace side we are to watch ourselves so you could add on the Hyper Grace side, Look to Jesus. It is as we see Him in all His glorious grace that we are transformed into His image. I think of Psalm 135:18, We will become what we worship!

I love God’s grace but God does require of His Children/Slaves.
For Once saved always saved is not Biblical and repentance is not simply a change of mind.
A new special revelation of Grace in the 21st century? I don’t think so. Many personal biases have caused error to mixed with truth.
Confusion regarding identity is the greatest cause of barrenness and anxiety in the church. People hear that God loves them like a Father, but they must work like slaves. This is not only confusing (and psychotic), it’s the opposite of what Jesus said (John 8:35).
An apple is not an apple tree. Neither should we confuse repentance with the fruits of repentance. In the Bible, repentance is nothing more and nothing less than a change of mind. Here’s a picture.
To preach insecurity and uncertainty on the “once saved, always saved” issue, is to call God’s character into question and to doubt his many promises.
I doubt that you love Gods grace, your personal bias with regards to you right standing before God, clearly shows this.You believe you provide the right standing, a spirit that ascends to Gods mountain on its own strength.When there is a free offer to carry you up.
To put it more clearly, you cannot wait for your inheritance, you choose to murder the king.

Mixed grace, hyper-grace, no-grace, law, no-law. What’s it matter when your premise is that it’s all unconditional? Unconditional = no distinctions. All is one. Sin, love, hate, murder, Pharisaical, non-Pharisaical…

“Reckon yourself dead to sin and alive to Christ”
Don’t actually avoid sinning, just think (reckon) it doesn’t exist. Why? Because you really love holiness. Confusing? No simple:

The Apostle John makes this very simple, “Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
This is confusing a bit. What is sin again? Oh yeah. Not believing in Jesus. Basically Paul said any sin that leads to death is worth praying about.
Before i came to know and embrace the hyper-grace gospel, i was never at a complete rest, but like those in Jer 50:8, always seeking the way to Zion! But now, by His grace i am no longer seeking, for His free offer carried me me straight there and i am always in Zion. What a love is our Lord!
went over the table comparing mixed grace gospel vs. hyper grace gospel. I was refreshed again seeing why I believe what I believe. All the mixed grace gospel does is point to our obedience, or performance or ability to be found faithful. The Lord just shared with me those who chip away at the truth of eternal security are in reality chipping away at the hope believers have in Christ. Jesus adds to our hope He doesn’t chip it away!
It is so wonderful to hear the message of the new covenant being preached now and taught all over the world. I am a sixty seven year old man, got saved in jail and for years I lived under a performance gospel. In fact it cost me a marriage many years ago. I’ve always heard the term ” Hyper ” when applied to the grace message, as something bad. Apparently, you apply ” hyper ” as something good ? Wonderful ! Grace changed me !
I’m just trying to be Biblical. Paul was the one who said grace was hyper and if he said it so should we. God is good!
The hyper grace gospel says that grace abounds so much regardless of your mistakes that you can’t help but, do right because the love of Jesus drives you to it. It says that Jesus is the first word and the last. Jesus is grace personified. It drives you to boast about Him and His love.
what does Paul mean in Gal 5:19 -21 if Hyper grace is the correct gospil? Does anyone have any responsibility for what they do after they come to Jesus?
Notice the contrast between verse 19 and verse 22. “Works” of the flesh verses “Fruit” of the Spirit. These verses are pointing out what it looks like when someone is trusting in their works verses abiding in the the Vine for life.
Yes, accountability… it is also a gift of God. To help us keep the right way… when adam and eve sinned, they were held accountable for their own sins… We cannot go on sinning. Grace is free… but it wasnt cheap. We are not allowed to take Jesus finished work for granted.
So if i understand correctly… the law drives us to Jesus, because we cannot uphold it perfectly… so we realise our need for a Savior. And when we see our imperfect selves and Jesus perfection, we come to love Him. And thus build a relationship with Him. And what do one do when one is so close to someone… you do not want to hurt them. And if you do you are sorry and you dont do the same thing again. God is our father. And Jesus counts us as friends. We should build a relationship with Him. The closer we get to Him the less we would want to sin and live like the world. Is that it?
Riana, unless you are a Jew you are not under the Law and Gentiles were never suppose to be. The Law was given to the Jews as a tutor. Just like an algebra tutor, once you get algebra you no longer need the tutor. Unfortunately, the jews (and no other human) could ever keep the Law. So yes, the Law was given to the Jews to bring them to the end of themselves, so that they would turn to God. We are called by God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, to turn (repent) to Him. We only love Him because He first loved us. When we are born again, we are translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light, by God. We are also given a brand new (not an evolving) heart. We have relationship with God through Jesus Christ by just being and hearing and seeing HIM. As a believer we are One with Him, by His doing. The only way not to sin is by seeing Him and His truth. It is the Spirit that puts to death the sins of the flesh. Not us and not anything we do. Stay your focus on Jesus and you will find yourself not even thinking about sin, and doing less. And when you do sin, turn your focus back to Him and thank Him that He forgave all of your sins. If you read the book of Hebrews, you will see there is a rest that is not of this world; it is His rest, the Rest of Jesus Christ. Sit at His feet and pray He give you revelation of Himself, Jesus is the Grace of God! Blessings.
