Is there a Grace Revolution?
Where’s the Proof?
The label “Grace Revolution” can be seen everywhere. It’s on churches, ministries, books, and Facebook pages. But what is a Grace Revolution? It will help if we clarify some terms:
Grace = divine aid
Revolution = a turn or change
A Grace Revolution means the church is coming into the freedom that grace brings. It means believers are resting in Christ’s finished work, instead of striving in their own strength. They’re walking in step with the Spirit, rather than trudging along in the old habits of the flesh.
There have been many Grace Revolutions or Reformations throughout history. But over the last 30 years or so there has been a modern Grace Revolution. Check out this graph:
Over the past 30 years, there has been an explosion of grace-based literature. In the early 1990s, you were lucky to see one new book a year. Today, more than 50 new titles on the gospel of grace are released annually, and that number is rising fast.
As of mid-2025, there were over 400 books listed on Amazon with both “gospel” and “grace” in the title—a staggering number. Most of them had been published in just the last five years.
Once upon a time, authors would send me their grace books to review on Escape to Reality. However, about ten years ago, I had to say “Stop” because there were simply too many to read.
It’s not just books.
It used to be that if you wanted to watch or listen to a sermon about grace, you had to get your hands on a VHS tape or audio cassette. As recently as twenty years ago, there were fewer than 100 podcast episodes on the gospel of grace. Now there are more than 4,000.
Twenty years ago, there was no YouTube. Now there are more than 225,000 YouTube videos with the words “gospel” and “grace” in their description.
When I started Escape to Reality, there were only a handful of grace bloggers and I knew them all either personally or by reputation. These days, there are countless bloggers, YouTubers, podcasters, and social media influencers all proclaiming the message of grace.
Which is super-encouraging.
If you’re looking for grace-based teaching, you’ll find no shortage of books, videos, and articles to help you grow. And while grace-based churches are harder to find, it’s a strong beginning.
When you think how far we’ve come in the past few years, we can only get excited about what is still to come. The Grace Revolution is gaining momentum and bearing fruit all over the world.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Thank you Paul..
Hi Paul! I wish your stats really reflected more of an actual reliance on Christ’s finished work instead of our flesh works to be more like Christ. There may be more uses of the words grace and gospel but there are still the ” grace BUT” messages in so many churches and books. I appreciate your enthusiasm! We certainly continue to pray for the New Covenant to be preached and believed! Galatians 3:3.
It’s true there are many “grace but” books, but my counting methods grossly UNDERCOUNTED the true number of “grace gospel” books. For example, I have published 20 books on the gospel of grace, but only one has both words “grace” and “gospel” in the title (The Hyper-Grace Gospel). So 95% of my books are not included in the graph above. I discuss these measurement challenges and how I met them in The Grace Revolution. I encourage you to check it out.
