Self-publishing

There has never been a better time to be an author! The old model of going cap in hand to a traditional publisher only to be rejected again and again is gone. These days it is relatively easy to get your book listed in the world’s largest bookshop.

Since I have self-published a dozen or so books – some of which have been number-one best sellers in their categories and have won medals and awards – I am often asked to share my thoughts on getting published. (I have also had books published by the traditional method.)

I have compiled some guidelines on what I have learned about self- or independent publishing, and these can be accessed on Patreon for a token fee. In these guidelines I answer the following questions:

  • What are the two easiest ways to publish your book?
  • What are four ways not to publish your book?
  • How can to make a paperback without going through a printer?
  • How can to find professional editors and proofreaders without getting fleeced?
  • How to find cover artists?
  • How to find illustrators for your book?
  • How to publish a full-color book for two bucks a copy?

The full set of guidelines can be found here. They are practical and easy to follow. They show you everything you need to do to get your book to market.

I also have a smaller set of notes on the craft of writing.
