An open letter to pastors from the author of The Hyper-Grace Gospel

Dear Pastor,

Over the past couple of years, much has been said about the so-called hyper-grace gospel and the effect this message is having on the church.

Apparently the hyper-grace gospel is the deception Jude warned about. According to some it’s a destructive message preached by godless men. Here are some of the claims made against this message and those who preach it:

  • One national broadcaster says hyper-grace preachers dismiss the words of Jesus and are opposed to God’s law.
  • An influential evangelist says hyper-grace preachers will be responsible for the spiritual death of millions.
  • A writer in a leading Christian news magazine says hyper-grace preachers are closet sinners preaching cheap grace to justify their licentious lifestyles.

These are serious allegations. Have you ever wondered how the “false teachers” preaching this “dangerous” message might respond to these accusations?

In my book The Hyper-Grace Gospel: A Response to Michael Brown and those Opposed to the Modern Grace Message, I respond to these claims by drawing on the teachings of more than 40 grace preachers, such as Joseph Prince, Andrew Wommack, Clark Whitten, Andrew Farley, and many others.

In this book I address twelve myths and misperceptions some have about the hyper-grace gospel. I also provide a detailed response to some of the accusations made against the hyper-grace gospel and those of us who preach it.

THG_medalI like to think that The Hyper-Grace Gospel is not a knee-jerk reaction to criticism, but an opportunity to clarify misperceptions and identify real points of difference.

There may be some in your church asking questions about the hyper-grace gospel. This book has the answers you’re looking for.

The Hyper-Grace Gospel has just won a silver medal at the 2015 Illumination Awards. To celebrate my publisher would be delighted to send you a free copy. To get your free book (in pdf format), send your name, position (eg: pastor, associate pastor), and church website to KingsPress.org. This offer expires July 31, 2015 and is limited to the first 200 pastors who respond.

Grace and peace to you,

Paul Ellis

Update: This giveaway has now closed but pastors can still access The Hyper-Grace Gospel through the Pastor’s Lounge.

So a born again person can lose his salvation? How? If were sealed in the holy spirit like paul states and guarantes our salvation and were under grace by faith and God remembers our sins no more how then can we fail ?

  4. Thank you so much! This is for my son in law…

    • Thanks Maryann, but please don’t submit requests here (they need to go to the publisher) or on behalf of others (we don’t want to be spammy). I encourage you to forward this to your son-in-law.

  5. This book was well written, respectful, easy to read and right on point. I found it very helpful in my journey to find the truth. As someone who spent over two decades in the mixed grace message I was dying literally and figuratively from trying to be enough. Those who are opposed to the grace message (as I once was so vehemently) don’t truly understand the message. I found this book clearly stated the opposing side with biblical backing. I recommend it to everyone on this journey to find truth for themselves instead of just blindly believing the man behind the pulpit.

  6. Hi Paul, I’m not sure if you are expecting feedback but I am going to give it. I stumbled across your website about a year ago. I googled Gods grace and now here I am. You have sent a couple of e-mails to me personally, taken time out of your busy day to speak to me.

I’m not sure if I can keep it below 250 words but I ask if you think it relevant please allow it.

I really struggle with the grace of God for me, yet I don’t struggle telling others that the hyper grace of God is true for them (they don’t know I struggle with it, I’m too ashamed to tell them but happy to tell them it’s true) our Father loves us way more than we can comprehend.

What you and those you reference who teach hyper grace has really made me think and it’s starting to undo many many years of being battered.

I as a believer am devastated when I sin and have never seen grace as a license to sin even when I placed myself under the law. That refutes point number 3 you posted above. What I am staring to learn is that rather than be devastated thank our Father he is not devastated but actually I’m forgiven.

The only work Jesus asked me to do was to believe in the one whom he sent then I am saved. Up until three years ago that verse even though I had it read never impacted me until our Father took a gun, put the bullet in it with that verse, along with there is no condemnation for those in Christ and a few other verses.

Anyone reading this who like me doesn’t quite get it hang on to the knowledge that when seek his righteousness we will find it, he is the author and perfector of our faith, he who started the good work in us will complete it and finally the verse I cling on to “Jesus said may they know that you love them as much as you love me”

    Thank you Paul

Thank you Paul for your faithfulness. Your words are truly a manifestation of the Grace of God through the Holy Spirit. There are so many sheep roaming around out here without a shepherd. We would rather stay away from the messages of “death” then defile ourselves and fall back into the misery of the mixture message. My family and I have chosen to fellowship with each other since there are NO grace churches anywhere even near our state in the US. We study the word with you and Joseph Prince. Pastor Prince has videos that we watch and re-watch and the anointing is always fresh and the supply is overflowing. Your articles are used in bible study and clear up any misconceptions anyone has about the message of Grace. I can’t thank you enough for your encouragement and willingness to step out and speak to those who come against the Lord. Yes, who would think that the Body of Christ would be persecuted by other believers. Bless you and your family as you continue in His Grace!

1Cor 1:30 It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Hyper Grace, Greasy Grace, whatever they want to call it. I call it the The True Gospel, The Good News! Everything else is unpure religion and mixture. Thank you Brother Paul.

    Paul,
God Bless you for continuing to tell this marvelous truth! After 50+ years in not only mixed grace but in harshly judgmental Judaized “Christianity” I am so transformed by grace and the realization that I am really crucified with Christ and now am his as he lives in me.

Your book list led me to the wonderful “Lifetime Guarantee” by Bill Gillham and to Andrew Farley’s great ministry. I know your followers would benefit so much from one or more book reviews of W. Ian Thomas, especially the “Saving Life of Christ” and “If I Perish, I Perish”. Also, many of his sermons are available on torchbearers.org.

  10. Sir., good day i am one of a person who really changed by through essence of grace after i watched the pastor of NCC Joseph Prince i want to grab some of your copy tjank you and God bless more.

I humbly enter my thoughts, as I am a new found member of the fullness of Grace, like a babe in it’s infancy I am still learning the path of grace, daily learning how to feed the dog of Spirit so it will grow, and stop feeding the dog of flesh and sin so he will perish. Persevere daily in the race of life till the end. However the path of religion and guilt based preaching requiring humiliating public confession, continual working and giving in order to become right with God I am very familiar with. It does not work, there is no lasting change. Only once I was introduced to the Gospel of Grace did it all make sense, and saved a wretch like me. I read of how Jesus threw the hypocrites and traders from Gods house with anger and a whip, and I think he will clean house in the same way with those preaching a gospel of confusion, primarily to fill seats on a Sunday and the pockets of a few. Look at their fruits, if I am an example of their fruits, rotten and stinking with repeated sin with no escape in sight then that cannot be the image that God sees of been washed as clean as snow. Who in their right mind (spiritual mind) once having tasted the sweetness of Grace would want to sin again. I encourage you Paul, persevere and take comfort that Gods words preached through you have saved a wretch like me.

Thank you Paul – Since becoming a believer I have been brought up on ‘Word/Faith’ teaching and very thankful for it – I am so thankful for God’s Grace that is continually and so wonderfully being revealed through your teaching and thankfully Andrew Wommack, Joseph Prince and so many others – This has been of immensem value. The depth and meaning of the real Gospel as preached by Paul in Romans brings home to us so much more clearly His Love and Grace!! If this is Hyper-Grace may it go on being preached until Jesus returns!
It is New Covenant teaching and totally scriptural – Many of us for years struggled to to have faith in our ‘own faith’ ie for our healing and so many other needs – We have come to realise it is not ‘faith’ in ‘our faith’ but It is faith in Him alone can bring total victory – I believe the Holy Spirit is increasingly revealing this to the Body of Christ at this time – He is coming back soon!!

Sorry no email address we are a new church plant and just getting things started

  17. I’m one of the thousands of Pastors under this big ministry. I believe and preach the grace gospel but my umbrella ministry doesn’t. I’m in Nigeria and really want to have your book. It’s not in bookshops here.

  18. I can’t get see your books here in Nigeria. I wanna buy hard copy. Please try and make your books(hard copy) available in Nigeria. Thanks

  19. We just had communion in church and our lead pastor had us “examine” ourselves before taking communion. By his talk we were to make ourselves acceptable before God by confessing any sin. I talked to him about what I thought the supper was about namely remembering what Jesus accomplished at the cross and when I take communion I remember what he did for me and where I would be without that sacrifice. He still said we had to examine ourselves so we would not be judged. He just doesn’t get the completeness of that sacrifice. I guess he would rather trust in his ability to confess his sins than accept what Jesus did at the cross.

  20. Its high time that people wake up to the true message of Grace. We wonder why so many people reject church and reject God. The “church” has done an excellent job driving millions away from Jesus to maintain their false sense of self-righteous egotism. It’s time to open the flood gates and give everyone a chance at eternal life, not just “good” church people.

    • Naz you have a good spirit but I’d be careful about slamming the ‘church’ and all the preachers that have truly tried doing their best in their interpretation of scriptures. The Lord has raised up many preachers in this time who understand what the Gospel of Grace is. Its never been a ‘message of Grace.’ Its always been the Gospel that Paul preached. Many preachers have done the best they could. They’ve gone as far as their own personal revelations could take them. But many of us understand what the ‘Gospel of Grace’ is now only by the Grace of God, who has revealed it to us individually so many wonderful preachers. The devil is the ONE that driven countless away from Jesus. That scoundrel does everything within his power to bring confusion to what the Bible is stating. That joker is not a ‘passive’ devil. I’m not trying to bring him any glory but that loser has had great success hoodwinking the church for a great deal of time.

      • Robbie,

I truly appreciate the kindness you want to show these pastor; but I have a question for you. Would this be your response to the Pharisees as well? I mean, they truly tried to protect what they believed to be God’s Word.

As the Pharisees caused so much smoke and fog that the Jewish people were burdened and, apparently, without hope. They didn’t see God’s love, they lived in fear.

I wish I had met a pastor of grace many, many years ago. The messages never changed; so how was it that these “men of God” (my father was one of them) missed this truth? Though I agree that many were just misinformed, just like I was, the message was still about what we do, but what He did. And I, honestly, am offended what the modern “church” did to such a beautiful message.

  21. Thank you Jesus Christ for using pastor Paul and many more to reveal the true message of the bible.. Grace to you ps paul 😄🙏
Waiting for you to come to Indonesia.. 😁

  22. Paul was the apostle to the gentiles. We can pretend that we don’t make mistakes after we get saved but we should rather admit our shortcomings and continue on to ask and believe the Holy Spirit for victory in that area. We have absolutly no power over satan absent of Jesus period and the devil wants us to believe our will power can defeat him. That’s how we play into his hands. Don’t jump too far ahead in Galatians. Paul explains it quite clearly but we must take the whole book. Grace through faith. God bless.

The question for the Christian is two-fold and is a valid point. Do we try to grow godly character or do we renew our minds and relax into our identity with Christ? Do we admit our sins confidently or fearfully? The Gospel is also for Christians.

While Paul talks about confronting lying drunks and sinners and I’ve found such God’s view for me, sinners is not as helpful a term as godly vs. ungodly, which was also God’s way for my situation.
