  1. Have you read “Silent Killers of Faith: Overcoming legalism and performanced based religion” by Stephen Crosby?

  2. Hi, Paul, might I ask what you think of Rick Warren’s best-seller, “The Purpose Driven Life”? I am sure you have heard of it, and might have read it a bit. I would love to hear your thoughts about the book.

    THANKS. -tacticianjenro

  3. any bill johnson books?

  4. I am wondering have you read 7 Spirits Burning by John Crowder and is there any books related to prophecy you can recommend?

    • No, I haven’t. If anyone out there wants to recommend a grace-based perspective of prophecy, let us know by hitting reply to this comment.

      • Hi Paul, these are definitely grace books. I’ve read John Crowder books, they have been some of the best grace books I’ve ever read. I’d recommend Mystical Union for a beautiful teaching on grace. I am half way through 7 spirits burning, it has so far been a lovely revealing of Jesus with great insight into the nature of God and with a foundation of grace.

      • You can read my review of Mystical Union here.

      • As regards a grace based perspective on prophecy, I recommend anything by Graham Cooke

      • I could recommend a book called “The Prophetic Mandate” by Chip Brogden. He emphasises Revelations 19:10 “the testimony of Jesus
is the spirit of prophecy”. New testament prophets being different to Old testament prophets. The truth concerning Jesus is the subject
        of prophecy.

Dr. Lynn Hiles has an outstanding insight on the book of Revelation. His book is called The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Very easy to understand and profound insight!

The apostle Paul speaks of not being entangled again with the yoke of bondage to religion. Its so amazing at how many people mix covenants and sweet as a result. I PRAISE GOD AND THANK HIM FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU SIR AND JOHN SHEASBY WHO SPEAKS THE WORD OF GRACE WITHOUT APOLOGE TO ANY WHO CONFRONTS YOU. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT YOUNG PEOPLE ARE RECEIVING THE TRUTH AND GRACE IN ITS FULLNESS. GRACE2U.

  6. Thanks for this outstanding list. Many of these books are also some of the favorites on my bookshelf. Very kind of you to make this page that makes it so easy for us to see your other reviews. I enjoy your posts!

  7. Great list.hav had the grace to read 5 in that list.currently in re-reading a better way to pray.!looking 4ward to destined to reign.

  8. I just finished There were Two Trees in the Garden by Rick Joyner. Rick does an amazing job of explaining how this battle between legalism and grace started back in the Garden with Adam and Eve and has been going on ever since.

  9. Was set free in my walk with god, and gained a biblical understanding of Grace via Joseph prince, i hold his ministry for saving me from a zeal of works righteousness, once i seen for myself Jesus and his finished work, i began to see gods gift in me to find His truth through different preachers and teachers along this journey i read the good the bad the ugly about all the new covenant teachers and preachers i enjoyed,….so to evade confusion i prayed and the answer i kept getting was this ..I am raising up many in this time to preach my truth,..i still check most things no matter who i hear preach, including the ones i consider sound teachers. The very best in my opinion on the teaching of Grace has to be Dr James B Richards ,…Impact ministries Huntsville Alabama, a greatly gifted man of God’s word been around the block a few times has a great understanding of the finished work of Jesus, and the hypocricy of formula’s and religeous hoops that erroneous teachings in the church avail today has expounded greatly on what joseph prince started when god put him in my path. There are many sound and good teachers that are being raised but be careful to check for yourselves what every man preaches i.e. Acts 17:11

  10. Just reading a new one by Jesse Duplantis: “Distortion: The Vanity of Genetically Altered Christianity”. Have you seen it? Just wondered your take on it

  11. Paul, I would highly recommend a fairly new grace book, PURE GRACE, by Clark Whitten. I first heard about grace in a sermon by him over 20 years ago. At the time I did NOT understand what he was talking about…but I wanted it. His new book is a great primer on grace and I think he does an excellent job of unpacking the basics of grace especially for someone that is new to this almost-too-good-to-be-true message. I so enjoy your blog posts and book reviews. I especially appreciate that you are not one of the “angry” grace people (those that are so blown away with how good He is and so are upset at those that didn’t tell them and so their posts tend to sound very angry and attacking at those who haven’t yet had a revelation of Papa’s goodness and grace). You have a lot of insights on this grace life that have really blessed me. Thanks so much.

  12. have you read Grace Awakening by Charles Swindoll. it came out in 1990, I feel a lot of authors and grace preachers who got famous for the grace message got started reading this book based on the examples they quote.

  13. Hey Paul, new to the site. Wanted to know if you have read “Accidental Pharisees” by Larry Osborne. Much love and encouragement to you for this site. You articulate some things that are in my brain that sometimes can’t get out as coherently as I would like! I am actually sermon prepping right now, on our need to give Grace to one another, and have found many of your comments extremely helpful by way of understanding what Grace is and how we are new creations. Thanks! I enjoy finding people who can put the cookies (hard theological topics) on the bottom shelf-because it allows more people to understand and find Life.

    Blessings

  14. Do you ever read books by Indie authors? Can independent authors send you links to their books if they are on amazon?

    • Hi Tina, yes I do. Several of the books above are by authors who are also independent publishers. I have no bias against self-published titles. In fact, I encourage them and I would like to help every grace author by giving their book exposure here. But there’s a problem. I get sent far more books than I can read. This week I have been sent 10 unsolicited books. I doubt I will even open half of them – not because I don’t want to, but simply because there’s not enough time in the day. On top of that authors also send me their unpublished manuscripts.

For the authors out there thinking “I should send Paul my book,” please understand that the odds are 20 to 1 that I won’t be able to read and review it. I’m not happy about this and I’m working on something that will improve those odds. But we’re not there yet.

UPDATE (Nov 2013): Are you an author wanting to get your book reviewed on E2R? Read this.

Do you have any recommendations for books dealing with some of the difficult stories in the Old Testament? I have a solid understanding of why God dealt with people differently under the law and gave them what they deserved, but I’m in Bible school and my professors are doing a lot of bringing up stories that are really hard to understand and just saying, this wasn’t that big of a deal in an Eastern context, it bothers us because we’re Westerners. It’s left me confused. (Things like the concubine of the Levite who was cut up and sent to the tribes or the judge who sacrificed his daughter).
    Thanks!

  16. Have you read Lynn Hiles: “Unforced Rhythms of Grace.”

    • I haven’t Shannon. Thanks for the recommendation.

    • This is the next book I am going to read. After I read the a new one out I just bought….Christians inThe Hand of a Happy God by Jeff Turner. Thanks for this place of safety to come and read and find good books to read and good info.

      • Julie, Jeff Turner’s book is actually called, Saints in the hands of a Happy God. ( opposite title to a well known sermon by Jonathan Edwards called Sinners in the hands of an angry God). It has to be one of the best books I have ever read.

  17. Grace walk Steve McVey

  18. The first book that the holy spirit used to introduce me to grace is destined to reign by Joseph prince. However, there’s still some questions in my mind that have not been answered.after meditating on the truth in that book. Then god used another book- the normal christian life by watchman nee. I call it the mechanics of Christianity. How bout watchman nee’s classics like sit, walk, and stand?

Rejecting Religion—Embracing Grace by Greg Albrecht

  20. Bertie Britts, “Born from Innocence”. Absolutely amazing.

  21. Paul, have you ever heard of Terry Virgo (New Frontiers)? He has authored several great books including Gods Lavish Grace. He has that particular one in a 3 part video series on his website http://www.terryvirgo.org It is well worth your time. I had been explaining grace to my wife for over a year, but just wasn’t connecting. She heard Terry and in one message she got it and it radically changed her…now she is as turned on to grace as I am and it is awesome. Thanks for all you do Paul, you are a wonderful blessing and I have come to value your opinion.

p.s. Have you ever heard of E.W. Kenyon? I recently “inherited” some of his books but haven’t read any of them.

Has anybody read “Jesus, the gentle parent”…. awesome grace-based parenting book. A must read

Hey Paul! I love the great works you are doing! God’s gonna bless and multiply you in such a way that will amaze the whole world in Jesus’ Name. I love u.

  24. Paul, what about ‘No condemnation, a theology of assurance’ from Michael Eaton? One of my favorites. He tackels N.T. Wright very well.

  25. Hi Paul,

Thanks for your recommendations. To date, the only book I’ve read from this list is yours; ‘Out of the Jungle’, upon subscribing to this website recently. Looks like I have some reading to do! ‘Out of the Jungle’ was an excellent introduction to the concept of grace, by the way.

Are you familiar with Abiding Life Ministries and the books written by Michael Wells? One of them, ‘Sidetracked in the Wilderness’, provided me my first glimpse of grace. Dr Wells has also written a beautiful picture book entitled ‘The Gardener’s Love’, based on Jesus’ teaching in John 15. Good stuff.

  26. Hi Paul, stumbled on your blog while navigating Andrew Wommack’s website. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Just read your Post on the sovereignty of God and I was blown away. You are so simple and yet so in depth in your articulation of the gospel of grace. Wanted to know if you have heard of Ken Legg. He’s also a grace Preacher in Australia. You both have similar communication styles.
    Zoe, Nigeria

  27. I’d recommend Connie Witter to as an awesome grace teacher & publisher of great books and Bible Studies. Her Because of Jesus is mostly for women, but most of her others are great for both sexes. She has an awesome young girls bible study. I’m currently looking for a young boys grace book or bible study though, do you know of any good resources in that area?

Definitely bookmarking this page, and adding these to my reading list! Thanks, Paul!!

  29. This page is for book reviews, but I thought it the most relevant place to recommend a grace album: ‘Welcome to the New’ by MercyMe. Every song on it proclaims the good news of God’s limitless grace. It’s like they’ve been reading EscapeToReality or something. 😉 Definitely worth a listen.

Have your read “Financial Stewardship” by Andrew Wommack? I want to hear your thoughts about it.

    • I haven’t read that one. Did you like it?

      • Nick Baldemor // December 12, 2014 at 2:36 am //

Yes I did. It was an eye-opener to me. The Lord really opened my eyes to a grace-based way of giving. I always thank my Daddy God for bringing you and Andrew Wommack’s ministry to me, my family and my friends. Grace always, all glory and praise to our sweet and beautiful Savior Jesus Christ forever!

  31. Could you please recommend grace based book for “Men Ministry”.

  32. I would highly recommend “Holy Sweat” by Tim Hansel. It is a great book of unlocking the holy that is already within us.Short, fun filled chapters, with great little quotes and stories that you cant help but remember. One of my favorite chapters is chapter3 “the christian life is not what it seems”.There may be parts that are contrary to grace, but as a whole,it “oozes” with grace and certainly sets aside any notion that grace makes one lazy or apathetic.

The Book ‘ The Gospel in Twenty question’ is super good. Apart from shading the light on some difficult verses and answering some difficult questions, the last question ‘ What are eternal rewards?’ has been an eye opener for me. Thanks Paul for this revelation. Having given my life to the lord since August 1992, I’ve always had the wrong belief when i comes to eternal reward. Your book is a real eye opener on that subject for me.

Since i started my grace journey a year ago, day for day, God has put two great grace teachers in my path, Joseph Prince and Paul Ellis. God bless you Paul for humbling yourself to let God use you to minister to us Christ, the Grace of God. Grace and peace be multiplied abundantly in your life.

  34. Have you read “It is Finished” by Eddie Snipes? I ran across his book “Abounding Grace” first and am now reading “It is Finished.”

  35. Justin Paul // May 22, 2015 at 10:48 am // Reply

Love reading your material, Paul! Thanks for the book reviews. I recently came across a great book on God’s unconditional love – Unravel Love’s Mystery by David Youngren. Have you heard of it? I like it because it really explains the tree of knowledge of good and evil and how our view of God has been distorted because of it. I thought I’d let you know.

I am a pastor who was deep in the mixed grace gospel until two years ago. This websitehas helped me a lot in growing me up in faith and in me up and in ministry. Thanks.

  37. Hey Paul you need to add why I hate religion by creflo dollar, it is deffinatly a awesome grace book check it out.

  38. Hey Paul,
Have you read/reviewed Release of the Spirit (Watchman Nee)? I had a hard time with this one. I was curious if you had thoughts about Nee’s idea that the Holy Spirit is a disciplinarian who must break our outer ( which he describes as our Soulical) man to allow the inward man (spirit) to break out. This book also goes as far as to say that the Lord sends troubles and trials for our :highest good. I have read your 2 posts on the 10 myths Holy Spirit but wanted to get your take on this book in particular. Thanks!

  39. Hi Paul, wondered if there was a reason that the book reviews don’t open when you click on them? I know they used to, as I have checked some out before buying, I went looking in there for a couple over the holidays. I have tried several times over couple days, still no joy!

  40. I am new in Grace teaching previously I was living in Sin guilt that I didn’t read word, I didn’t pray properly than one year before I saw Simon Yup post on FB so I started reading his posts, And the good thing is many doubts cleared in my mind. Now I am free from guilt..
And 2016 I want to now more about God’s Grace and His Finished Work…

    Saint Paul,
The link to your review of The Gospel of Peace by Dr. James B. Richards takes me to Amazon. No review yet?

    • That’s a placeholder. I’ve had that book on my desk forever and have been meaning to review it. One day…

It started me on the road. . . .he considers it one of his 4 foundational books. I suspect it might polish your lens a little bit.

Well I just published my own book on grace, but from a different perspective. Looking for some kind brothers and sisters to read it and get some feedback. Right now just my close friends and family are giving it a go. It is ‘Painting the Face of God’ on Amazon as a ebook.

  43. Br. Paul, thank God for the message of Grace and for people of God like you! I would like to bring to ur attention to an amazing book on Grace by none other than Derek Prince- ‘By Grace Alone: Finding Freedom and Purging Legalism from Your Life’. In general br. dereks older book have a legalistic flavor, but this book was a total revelation for me! He had written it towards the end of his life & i guess it was published 10 years after his death- I guess it also portrays the journey from Law to Grace in the life of a well meaning man of God like Derek. You can find it on Amazon. Once again thank you for the wonderful work brother in Christ!

    Thank you for your books.

    Hi Paul,
I use the Overdrive app through my library to read most of the books I read. I noticed your books were not available to recommend for the library to purchase for people to read. I just wondered if this is something you have heard of before or would consider making your books available to.

On a sidenote: I just discovered your website and love it. I grew up with a view religious view of God and most (maybe all) of the versus you have listed under Eternal Security were ones I heard of in a very condemning way. I really appreciate being able to read a much better interpretation of each verse. It is so refreshing to find people with a radical view of Grace.

  47. Check “why I hate religion” by Creflo Dollar

  48. Albert soo // August 2, 2016 at 2:41 pm // Reply

The gospel in 20 question should definitely be one of the 5 up there.

  49. Hi Paul I have been preaching law for long time! I am pastor of a church which consist of 25 people! Its one year now and I am preaching hyper grace! I feel it makes lots of sense I take lots of on teachings from your books! Somehow other Christian preachers who were my good friends are now thinking that hyper grace is a cult and they are not able to understand the massage that well! And misunderstanding me!

Could you recommend me some Bible commentary which is grace based?

  50. I was raised in church and knew my Bible, but I got to a point where what I was reading from the Bible seemed to contradict what I was being taught -and- had always been told it said, The book that really helped me was “Grace Plus Nothing” by Jeff Harkin.

    • Same here, Larry. Grace Plus Nothing is the first grace book I read, and it’s excellent. Thanks, Paul, for these recommendations.

      • Check out Dr Andrew Farley, he is an amazing teacher on grace, also a Professor of Linguistics, I follow him as well as Paul, they do not contradict each other at all, both on the same grace team, you can watch him on line, he has full sermons free, plus several books at Amazon well worth reading, I don’t need lots of books with Paul and Andrew ministering all the truth of Gods amazing grace.
